About
The Chickasaw Nation Career Technology and Training Program is available to part-time and full-time Chickasaw students attending or interested in attending a state or nationally accredited vocational facility. To be eligible for the program, an applicant must be a Chickasaw citizen and show a need for training before funding will be approved. Residency and income guidelines are not considered for eligibility in the program. The career technology and training funding is intended to assist students by providing funding for tuition, fees, supplies, books, equipment and other training related expenses. The field of study is not limited to any particular discipline. The primary objective of the program is to provide funding to Chickasaw students and meaningful employment or career advancement.

Tribal Vo-tech (TVT) Grant
Part-time and full-time Chickasaw students attending a state or nationally accredited career technology/vo-tech center, trade school, private training facility or specialty school are eligible. Grant would pay for student’s tuition, fees, supplies, books and training-related expenses (expenses do not include living expenses, transportation costs, equipment expenses or computers). TVT grants do not provide funding for conferences, symposiums or workshops. TVT grants shall not exceed $6,000 (high school students ineligible). Students enrolled in programs in which the training facility bills according to quarter or semester systems must have the training facility complete a new training cost worksheet prior to their next quarter or semester beginning. The training cost worksheet and an invoice must be submitted in adequate time for the education services approval process.
License and Certification Assistance Grant
This grant assists part-time and full-time Chickasaw students who have received certification from a state or nationally accredited career technology/vo-tech center, trade school, private training facility or specialty school. Students are limited to license and certification fee assistance on a one-time basis per license or certification per student up to $500 (high school students ineligible). The amount of each award will depend on the need of the student and the original invoice/receipt (must be attached). A copy of the applicant’s certificate received must also accompany the application.
Technical Supplies Assistance Grant
Reimbursement Part-time and full-time Chickasaw students attending or who have received a certificate of completion from a state or nationally accredited career technology/vo-tech center, trade school, private training facility or specialty schools are eligible. The grant provides funding for supplies (no computers) and other training-related expenses, and is available on a one-time basis per student, per program. Part-time students may qualify for a grant up to $250. Full-time students may qualify for a grant up to $500 (high school students ineligible; however there is a high school student option below). An original receipt must accompany the application for the student to receive reimbursement. Advance payment is available to those who submit an itemized vendor list. Advance payments will be issued in the name of the vendor. Applicants currently in training must submit a letter from their instructor confirming active attendance. Applicants who have completed a certification program must submit a copy of their certificate for which supplies are being requested.
TVT Clothing Grant
This grant assists full-time Chickasaw students enrolled at a state or nationally accredited career technology/vo-tech center, trade school, private training facility or specialty school. A clothing grant in the amount of $300 may be awarded to students who attend at least 1,000 training/clock hours or who are in session more than nine calendar months (high school students ineligible). Grants are distributed to the student in the form of a check mailed directly to the student. Eligibility of a second grant will be pending verification of enrollment in an 18-24 month program.
Technical Supplies Assistance Grant – High school students only
Assists with the purchasing of supplies and other training-related expenses (other expenses do not include transportation costs, room and board expenses, equipment or computers). See Technical Supplies Assistance Grant above for specific details on amount of award and requirements.
Second Chance Option
An applicant who qualifies will receive 75% of the award amount for which he/she is eligible through the TVT program. An applicant will be required to turn in all documents required for the TVT grants along with a one-page essay. The essay must demonstrate maturity and the ability to succeed academically and explain the applicant’s activities during his/her time away from post-secondary education. Examples of activities include, but are not limited to: success at another higher education institution, volunteer service, full-time employment and honorable military service.
