The Chickasaw Nation Council House Museum will present its annual American Indian Film Series for Children at 1p.m. Friday July 10, July 17 and August 7th.

“This series is intended to give the children a glimpse into Native American history,” said Flora Fink, curator manager at the museum. “It also familiarizes them with the museum environment.”

Films set to be shown this year are:

June 10:  “Walking Thunder”, a 1997 release directed by Craig Clyde. “Walking Thunder” tells the story of a young boy stranded in the Rockies, a Sioux medicine man and a legendary bear known as “Walking Thunder.”

July 17: “Spirit Bear: The Simon Jackson Story”, a Screen Door picture directed by Stefan Scaini about a little boy who faces the foresting industry to try to save the endangered Spirit Bear.

August 7: “Education of Little Tree”, which showcases the story of an 8 year-old Cherokee boy during the Depression era.  Directed by Richard Friedenberg and produced by Allied Films.

Each film will be shown in the gallery of the Council House Museum, located at 209 N. Fisher in Tishomingo, Okla. For more information, contact Ann Fink at (580) 371-3351.
