ADA, Okla. – Chickasaw Nation Election Secretary Rita Loder announced today that Toby Perkins of Ada won the runoff election for Pontotoc District Seat 1 of the Chickasaw legislature.
Perkins received 1,274 votes to defeat Mark A. Johnson, also of Ada, who received 1,208 votes.
The runoff election was necessary because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the Dec. 7, 2010 special election to fill the unexpired term of Holly Easterling.
Perkins and Johnson took the top two spots among seven candidates in that election.
Perkins will take the oath of office 11 a.m. Monday, January 10 in the large conference room of the Chickasaw Nation Headquarters, 520 East Arlington, Ada.
