Elder's Day Set Aug. 12 at Chickasaw Cultural Center

The Chickasaw Nation Elders' Day is scheduled 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12 at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, Sulphur.

Elders' Day honors the tribal elders and provides them with opportunities to share their knowledge about the Chickasaw culture and traditions.

Tribal historian Jeannie Barbour will serve as emcee. A presentation on tribal culture will be given by Laura Clark, with the tribal division of Arts and Humanities. A special singing performance is planned and lunch will be served.

Originally planned for Kullihoma, the location was changed due to extreme heat.
