Haley Price and her baby Mia at the fifth annual Chepota Himmita (Healthy Families) Trick or Treat event, conducted at the tribal Youth and Family building last month.

Ghosts, goblins and superheroes were spotted in the halls of the Chickasaw Nation Youth and Family Services building during the fifth annual Chepota Himmita (Healthy Families) Trick or Treat event.

Along with their parents, more than 50 children received candy by the handful from Youth and Family Service staff during the Oct. 26 event.

The annual trick-or-treat event is designed to give the small children a fun, safe and not-so-scary place to enjoy the holiday;  and it gives families who participate in the voluntary program a chance to mingle, said Ginger Dunn, program supervisor.

The Chepota Himmita program provides a community-based support group for Native American families. The free program provides opportunities to learn about child health and development, parenting skills and nutrition.

Educational home visits are also provided.
