Chickasaw Nation's Carl Albert Indian Health Facility, in affiliation with People's Electric Cooperative, Valley View Regional Hospital and Oklahoma Blood Institute, is conducting the "Ada All-American Blood Drive" 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at PEC headquarters located at 1600 North Country Club Road in Ada, Okla.

Healthy individuals who are at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds are encouraged to donate blood at the event. The blood drive aims to replenish the local blood reserve in a time when, traditionally, there is decline in blood donations as donors get involved in various seasonal activities and overlook blood donation.

Donations for the purchase of a new OBI bloodmobile will also be accepted at the event. The donations are 100 percent tax deductible. Bloodmobiles collect about 20 percent of the blood used in hospitals served by OBI Ada.  As more hospitals depend on OBI for their blood supply, there is a strong need for another bloodmobile.

Each donor will receive a "Feel Wild - Donate Blood" t-shirt, two admission vouchers to the Oklahoma City Zoo and two admission vouchers to an Oklahoma City RedHawks game redeemable between July 5 and Aug. 31 (some restrictions may apply). Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served at the event, which will also feature door prizes and a live remote from KYKC radio station.
