TISHOMINGO, Okla. – The 2012 Chickasaw Nation Southeastern Art Show and Market is accepting entries until Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
More than $20,000 in prize money will be awarded, including a $3,000 cash prize for the Best In Show winner and $1,000 in total prize money for Youth winners.
Launched in 2005, the Art Show and Market is an opportunity for adult and youth artists from any Southeastern and Woodland tribe to showcase and market their artworks on the beautiful historic Chickasaw Capitol grounds in Tishomingo, Okla.
Hosted by the Chickasaw Nation Division of Arts and Humanities during the tribe's 52nd Annual Meeting and 24th Festival, the juried art competition and market will be conducted Oct. 5-6 on the tribe's capitol grounds.
Art Show and Market art awards will be presented at 7 p.m., Oct. 4 at the Arts and Culture Awards at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in conjunction with the 2012 Annual Meeting and Festival.
Adults and youth from any federally recognized tribe are encouraged to enter the competition in the two-dimensional or three-dimensional categories.
Artists may enter up to two works per category up to a total of four entries.
To be eligible for awards, students must be enrolled in a public, private or home-schooled high school, and be 14-17 years old as of Sept. 1, 2012.
