The Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police Department (LPD) offers an anonymous telephone tip line to make it easier for residents to report crimes and suspicious activity.
The Tip Hotline - 1-866-928-7384 - is available 24-hours a day for residents of the 13 counties that comprise the Chickasaw Nation.
Community members are encouraged to call and leave information concerning any crime, accident or suspicious activities.
An online tip form is also available at www.chickasaw.net/LPD.
In case of emergency or a crime in progress, call 911.
The Tip Hotline is answered 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by a Lighthorse analyst. Information received after hours or on the weekend is recorded and passed to investigators, patrol officers or other authorities.
Callers, who are asked to provide as much information as possible, do not have to identify themselves.
"Our hotline is anonymous and confidential," Lighthorse Police Capt. Steve Cash said.
All calls and Internet tips are anonymous to protect the caller's identity. However, the LPD does recommend callers identify themselves and leave contact information to allow for follow-up interviews and additional information, if needed.
"Information from the hotline is disseminated to District 22 Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force located at Lighthorse headquarters," Capt. Cash said. "The task force is comprised of agents and investigators from Ada Police Department, Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, District 22 Drug Task Force and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation."
The Tip Hotline offers a proactive tool for communities to fight crime in the 13 County area, including; Bryan, Carter, Coal, Garvin, Grady, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall, McClain, Murray, Pontotoc, and Stephens.
Lighthorse Police conducts programs promoting crime prevention to area schools and communities including Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), Gang Resistance Education And Training (GREAT) and Neighborhood Watch programs.
Lighthorse officers have been part of several cooperative law enforcement initiatives in southern Oklahoma. These include the District 22 Drug Task Force, a joint anti-methamphetamine campaign with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and a joint operation with the Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department to help curb underage drinking.
About Lighthorse Police
Lighthorse is a historic name given by the Five Civilized Tribes of the United States to their mounted police force. Once removed to Indian Territory, the Five Civilized Tribes, including the Chickasaws, created the elite Lighthorse police forces.
The Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department, re-established in 2004, has grown to include 31 sworn uniformed and investigative officers, two dual-certified narcotic K-9 Units, a Dive team and a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
The department also made history when the first cross deputation agreement with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs was inked in 2007, which led to numerous investigations and arrests.
To contact the Lighthorse Police Department call (580) 436-1166, (580) 436-7213 or the tip line at 1-866-928-7384.
