Chickasaw Nation Princess Information Fair set April 17 in Ada

A Chickasaw Nation Princess Information fair is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, April 17 at Ada Chickasaw Nation Community Center.

“This event will provide information and resources for young ladies interested in the princess program,” said Toni Castleberry, Chickasaw Nation princess program coordinator.

The Chickasaw Nation Princess, Junior Princess and Little Miss Chickasaw serve as ambassadors for the Chickasaw Nation.

Potential princess candidates and their parents and guardians will be able to find answers and discover more about the Chickasaw Nation princess program and the pageant, which is conduct each fall.

During the annual pageant, contestants are judged according to: essay, interview, traditional dress, poise, talent and random question. The information fair will provide a wealth of information about these categories and details on the princess program.

To participate in the Chickasaw Nation Princess Pageant, young ladies: must be at least 1/4 Chickasaw and predominantly Chickasaw, reside within the Chickasaw Nation, meet age requirements, be single and never married, must not have children, must not cohabit before or during reign, and have a CDIB and a Chickasaw citizenship card/certificate.

Princess categories include:
Little Miss Chickasaw ages seven-11
Jr. Miss Chickasaw ages 12-16
Miss Chickasaw ages 17-25
