The Chickasaw Foundation would like to announce the extension of the deadline for two scholarships; the John Bennett Herrington Scholarship and the Mitch Musgrove Memorial Scholarship. Both deadlines are extended to July 14, 2006.
The John Bennett Herrington Scholarship is a $10,000 maximum scholarship awarded annually for up to two years for a full-time junior or senior Chickasaw student in any four-year college or university. The student must also maintain a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Students must be pursuing a degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, chemistry, geophysics, natural science or a related field approved by the Chickasaw Foundation Board of Trustees and have a demonstrated interest in space aeronautics. This scholarship is named in honor of Commander John Bennett Herrington, the first Chickasaw astronaut in space.
The Mitch Musgrove Memorial Scholarship is a $250 scholarship for a Chickasaw adult part-time college student, aged 25 or older, with a major in Finance or Accounting. The student must also maintain a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The Finance Department of the Chickasaw Nation Division of Housing & Tribal Development presented the initial amount to begin the funding for this scholarship which will be administered thru the Chickasaw Foundation.
