Chickasaw Nation Announces Election Results

Chickasaw Nation Election Secretary Rita Loder announced today the results of the Chickasaw Nation general election.

Nancy Elliott of Ada was elected to Pontotoc District Seat 2 with 57 percent of the vote. Ms. Elliott defeated challengers Sandra Renee Gibson and Leon D. Brown of Ada and Todd Griffith of Newcastle. That seat was vacated when incumbent legislator Dr. Judy Goforth Parker resigned to accept a position as administrator of the Chickasaw Nation Division of Health.

Pontotoc District Seat 1 incumbent Holly Easterling of Ada retained her seat, with 71 percent of the vote. Challenger Pattie Howell received 848 votes.

Pickens District Seat 1 incumbent David Woerz of Ardmore won reelection with 55 percent of the vote. Challenger Leslie Larsen Hicks of Ardmore received 528 votes, while Mike Watson of Ardmore received 507 votes.

Challenger Shana Tate Hammond of Ardmore received 56 percent of the vote to win election to Pickens District Seat 4. Incumbent Wanda Blackwood Scott of Elmore City received 997 votes.

Tishomingo District Seat 1 incumbent legislator D. Scott Colbert did not receive a challenger. He will retain his seat on the legislature.

Incumbent Supreme Court Justice Barbara Anne Smith drew no challengers for Seat 2 on the Supreme Court. She will retain her seat on the Supreme Court.

Elected officials will take the oath of office Oct. 1 at the Chickasaw Nation headquarters in Ada

Holly M. Easterling (Incumbent) (Ada) – 2,126 votes (71.486%)

Pattie Howell (Ada) – 848 votes (28.514%

Pontotoc District Seat 2

Nancy Elliott (Ada) – 1,733 votes (57.747%)

Leon D. Brown (Ada) – 595 votes (19.827%)

Todd Griffith (Newcastle) – 462 votes (15.395%)

Sandra “Renee” Gibson (Ada) – 211 votes (7.031%)

Pickens District

David Woerz (Incumbent) (Ardmore) – 1,286 votes (55.407%

Leslie Larsen Hicks (Ardmore) – 528 votes (22.749%)

Mike Watson (Ardmore) – 507 votes (21.844%)

Pickens District Seat 4

Shana Tate Hammond (Ardmore) – 1,305 votes (56.69%

Wanda Blackwood Tippit Scott (Incumbent) (Elmore City) – 997 votes (43.31%)

Tishomingo District Seat 1

D. Scott Colbert (Incumbent) (Sulphur) – no challenger - retains seat
