Ada-based radio station KTLS and Rich Kaye, KYKC Radio's morning personality, are being honored by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters (OAB.)

KTLS will be awarded the 2010 Community Service Award during the organization's annual conference in Oklahoma City.

The award recognizes the station's outstanding local news coverage and public affairs programming with special emphasis on information relating to Oklahoma's veterans.

"It is an extreme honor to get this recognition from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters because they are our peers," said general manager Roger Harris.

Last year, KTLS was named Radio Station of the Year by the American Legion Department of Oklahoma for its service to the veterans' community.

For the fourth year in a row, Rich Kaye has been named one of the three finalists for the Air Personality of the Year Award.

Mr. Harris said Mr. Kaye's nomination acknowledges his "creativity" and "loyalty to the listeners."

Mr. Kaye has been with KYKC, the 50,000-watt country music station, for about 17 years and can be heard every day 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. on KYKC Coffee Shop & Wake up Show.

"Just to be nominated in the entire state of Oklahoma is an extreme honor," said Mr. Kaye. "This is my fourth year to be nominated. This may be my year."

Both KTLS and KYKC are parts of the South Central Oklahoma Radio Enterprises (SCORE), owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation. Other SCORE radio stations are KADA-AM, KADA-FM and KXFC.

"The award and nomination confirm that Rich Kaye, Roger Harris and all the employees are doing an excellent job of informing and entertaining south central Oklahoma," said Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby.

Broadcast in 12 Oklahoma counties, SCORE stations have an audience of approximately 75,000 listeners.

The annual OAB conference is scheduled for March 31 and April 1 at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City.
