Two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and Chickasaw Nation Writer-in-Residence Linda Hogan will be leading a creative writing workshop 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays May 25-June 29 at the Chickasaw Community Center in Ada.
Sponsored by the tribal Division of Arts and Humanities, the six-week workshop will include exercises to overcome writers block.
The workshop offers a non-critical environment in which writers can share ideas.
"There's a good energy when writing is shared in a supportive environment," Hogan said of the workshop atmosphere.
Chickasaw writers as well as lovers of fiction, poetry, memoir and family history are welcome.
Hogan has published numerous novels, essays, plays and environmental literature. She also played a prominent role in the development of contemporary Native American poetry. She taught at the University of Minnesota and has been an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder since 1989.
