HPWREN and California Research Learning Center Publish LIVE Findings in Park Science Journal Article

HPWREN staff worked with National Park Service (NPS) employees to conduct a distance learning study at the Old Point Loma Lighthouse and publish the findings in an article in Park Science, which is a journal published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, the NPS, Natural Resource Stewardship and Science, Office of Education and Outreach. A San Diego elementary school classroom was connected to the lighthouse via Skype; students in the class were able to interact in real-time with one of their classmates and an interpretation ranger - both portraying living history characters of the lighthouse era.

NPS Volunteer Elizabeth Bruch and NPS Interpretation Ranger Emily Floyd portrayed the Old Point Loma Lighthouse keeper assistant and niece during the LIVE experiment featured in Park Science. The Park Science article is available in print and also online. For the pdf version, please click here.
