National Park Service collaboration extends HPWREN to the Cabrillo National Monument

On May 4, 2007, orchestrated by Susan Teel of the National Park Service, a connection between HPWREN and the Cabrillo National Monument was established. Teel, Director of the National Park Service's California Mediterranean Research Learning Center, provided a summary which also points to a range of collaborators who helped make this happen. It can be found at http://hpwren.ucsd.edu/news/20070511/images/20070504-CNM.pdf.

Objectives for the connection include distance learning, like the one described at http://hpwren.ucsd.edu/news/20061218/ and science activities like the Point Loma site for SCCOOS, of which some connections are described at http://hpwren.ucsd.edu/news/060310.html and http://hpwren.ucsd.edu/news/20060810/.

NPS/CNM connection

The National Park Service Cabrillo National Monument old lighthouse on top of Point Loma. Some of the distance education activities are planned for being located at that site. Others are planned for the tidepools and near the Visitor Center.
