Senior Science Writer, San Diego Supercomputer Center. Research focuses on the creation, demonstration, and evaluation of the National Science Foundation-funded High Performance Wireless Research and Education Network (HPWREN). Thesis-related work includes social impact studies of broadband connectivity upon remote field researchers and education communities. Also write journal articles, white papers, press releases (http://hpwren.ucsd.edu/news/), video scripts (http://www.uctv.tv/library-test.asp?showID=5955) and other informational materials (for both peer-reviewed publications and the media). Teach courses related to HPWREN via Palomar College on Native American reservations, advise UCSD students affiliated with project, and oversee public affairs activities - including collaborations with national institutes, development/maintenance of website (http://hpwren.ucsd.edu), and interactions with officials at the National Science Foundation. Student Affairs, Jacobs School of Engineering. Assisted the Materials Science Program director in design, development, and delivery of programs and activities for current and prospective graduate students. Increased Fall 2000 applicants by 40 percent via recruitment activities for prospective students. Designed and implemented professional development activities, such as the formation of UCSD's chapter of Materials Research Society. Designed and maintained databases, correspondence, program/course evaluations, and reports. Freelance Writer. Currently under contract with Scott/Jones Publishers for website publishing textbook. Past projects included monthly articles regarding Wyoming science and technology issues for the Casper (Wyoming) Star-Tribune, the University of Wyoming AlumNews, the University of Wyoming Research Magazine, Laramie (Wyoming) Daily Boomerang, and Vista: New Perspectives on the West.

May 1996 to May 1998
Public Relations Consultant. Developed public relations plans for clients such as Wyoming's Cooperative Extension Service, Environmental Health and Safety Associates, The Illustrator, and Pioneer Pharmaceuticals.

May 1988 to August 1990
Radio Announcer. Broadcast two-hour daily radio shows and developed newscasts for small Kentucky radio station (WTTL). Other tasks involved announcing for school dances, class reunions, and local sporting events.

Computer Graphics Coordinator/In-Store Trainer. Oversaw computer graphics unit, which included hardware and software maintenance of ten computers, budget configurations, special events coordination, policy and procedure implementation for new employees. Additional tasks included production of black and white/full color advertisements, brochures, menus, signs, and posters. Dealt with local and statewide clients on a daily basis, including project planning, cost projections, budget adherence, and detailed record keeping. Duties also included supervising, training, and evaluating all new employees.

Southern School Media/PBS Video, Bowling Green, KY
(February to September 1993 and August 1994 to January 1995)
Designer and Copy Editor. Produced quarterly newsletter, as well as black and white print materials. Other work included project planning, budget adherence, marketing research, internet data collection, and conference preparation.
